NEW: Opal Cards

As of Monday 1 August 2016, old paper tickets are no longer being sold or accepted on trains, buses, ferries and light rail within the Opal network.

To travel on public transport in Sydney and surrounding regions you will need an Opal card, an Opal single trip ticket or an Opal single bus ticket.

Opal single trip tickets and Opal single bus tickets are only available in two fares: Adult and Child/Youth. To travel on a concession fare, you will need to have a Concession Opal card or a Gold Senior/Pensioner Opal card.

Paper ticket refunds will be available until 30 October, 2016.

When travelling in Regional NSW, Opal cards are not accepted. Contact local transport operators for ticketing information.

The above services have toilets on board.
There is no booking service or allocated seats, simply find a seat when you hop on board.
There is no separate luggage compartment and no luggage check-in.
Luggage must be taken on board.
Travelling with luggage is possible however it would be recommended that you board the train at Sydney’s Central Station at least 15 minutes prior to departure to ensure that you can obtain appropriate seats nearby where your luggage can be placed.
