BLOODLESS by master documentarian Bared Maronian, tells the remarkable story of the peaceful revolution that toppled a decades-old oligarchy and reinstated democracy in Armenia in 2018. The Armenian people showed determination, resilience and unity, garnering the admiration of the world. Maronian says ‘The success of the revolution was the unified determination of the people of Armenia & the diaspora. An unbreakable bond that can crush any type of current or future adversity or aggression against the Armenian people’.

It is this bond between Armenia & diaspora that we are seeing again today during this time of war.

BLOODLESS is powerful, inspiring, and uplifting. Whilst we all know how the story unfolds, the film features never-before seen footage. The film will leave you in awe of what was achieved through the strength of the human spirit and the dedication and passion of the Armenian people. “These qualities are being witnessed again today in this time of war with authoritarian Azerbaijan and Turkey. It gives us hope and belief that the Armenians can triumph against any enemy” said Hourie Demirjian, AFFA Co-Director.

Aptly, this Australian premiere takes place at Event Cinema Top Ryde. Ryde - a city with a strong Armenian community is the sister city of Stepanakert, the capital city of Artsakh. Stepanakert has undergone constant shelling and destruction since the attacks began on 27^th September 2020.

This event is being supported by a grant from the City of Ryde, in addition to Screen NSW.

All profits from the event will be donated to the All Armenia Fund, the approved charity by both Governments of Armenia and Artsakh.

The Armenian Film Festival Australia is now in it’s 5^th year. “Whilst the pandemic and now war has meant the festival has not continued as normal this year, we are proud to dedicate this 5^th edition to Artsakh, in solidarity with our brothers and sisters defending our homeland” said Margaret Chater AFFA Co-Director.

Bared Maronian’s previous films WOMEN OF 1915 and ORPHANS OF THE GENOCIDE have enjoyed global success. BLOODLESS has already won numerous awards from the international film festival circuit. The AFF team are honoured to be able to showcase this film to Australian audiences via this special event. BLOODLESS is a film not to be missed!

BLOODLESS: The Path to Democracy. Sunday 8^th November 2020.

Commencing with 2 sessions, 1PM and 4:30PM, additional sessions may be to meet demand. To avoid disappointment,  and maintain social distancing requirements, please purchase tickets ahead of time.

Tickets: Adults $30, Children (15 and under) $20. All children 15 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Family tickets and group tickets are available. See the festival website for all the details, including the answers to your FAQ’s.

The event complies with Covid-safe guidelines and has restricted seating in each session to allow for social distancing.   As such sessions will sell out faster than normal.
