Australia's Biggest Bird has the Most Adorable Babies Imaginable
The chicks who are just two weeks old - and already the size of a small chicken are being hand raised by Keepers to ensure their survival into adulthood. Emu parents, although well intentioned, have a tendency to accidentally step on their young and cause injury.
Since taking over the role of surrogate parent to the babies, Zoo Keeper Josh has formed the closest of bonds with them and has fast became their favourite human. As is visible throughout the video, the chicks love nothing more than snuggling up to him, following him around like little puppy dogs and exploring the big wide world.
Although they are born with stripes, over the coming months their colour will transition to the greyish brown we are used to seeing with adult Emus. In just 12 months they will reach full size, which in some instances can be as big as 6.2ft tall and weighing in at 60kgs (132 lb).
