Sydney’s Biggest Harvest Festival With A Brazilian Twist ‘Arraial Do BRACCA‘ - Celebrating The Diversity Of June Festival Across The Lusophone Communities.

Sydney-siders will get to experience a Brazilian-style country harvest festival in an all-day multicultural party hosted by the Brazilian Community Council of Australia (BRACCA). The event will be held at Sydney Portuguese Community Club on Sunday, the 24 June from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm, showcasing and celebrating the main aspects of traditional rural life in Brazil and Portugal.

Being part of the Open Inner West Festival and completing its 12th edition this year, ‘Arraial do BRACCA’ is a popular family-friendly event that attracts over 3,500 attendees each year. Known simply as ‘Festa Junina’ (June Festivities) in Brazil, the festival dates back hundreds of years and celebrates the start of the rain season with an abundance of food, music and dancing.

In 2018 Arraial do BRACCA celebrates the diversity of June Festival in many Lusophone communities (Portuguese speaking communities), either as natives or as learners. The President of BRACCA, Cherich Raff Dorattioti said the event will be the voice for more than 74 thousand Portuguese speakers living in the Inner West Area. “We want to share the second biggest celebration of Brazil with all Portuguese speaking communities and Australians! We will provide activities for all ages, including a kids’ farm, a jumping castle and a mechanical bull for the little ones and traditional Brazilian food and beverages, live bands and entertainment all day.”

BRACCA aims to connect the Brazilian and Portuguese communities to people from Angola, East Timor, Mozambique, Cape Verde, Guinea Bissau, São Tomé and Principe, Equatorial Guinea and Macau, who together count for more than 100 thousand people in NSW. Everyone is welcome to connect with and experience farm life, culture, food, music and dancing - all with a Brazilian twist.
