Ecology in Action in Brookvale
Kathy from Alpha Kids Academy & Helene from Choc & Moi are working together to create a great environment for families, workers and visitors in our community.
Hélène is a Belgian chocolatier and has opened a chocolate & coffee shop. This beautiful, friendly & cozy space is ideal for all the working community during the week and also for the neighbours on the weekends as she is open 7 days each week. You will find authentic Belgian chocolate made in store, in an open kitchen, with fresh coffee, croissants and more.
This space is also dedicated to chocolate classes, a unique opportunity for kids & adults to learn everything about chocolate and make their own creation!
It’s also a perfect way to teach them where the chocolate comes from and how to recognise a real handmade chocolate from a commercial one made with vegetable oil and a lot of preservatives.
Alpha Kids Academy currently has created a purposed built child care centre with indoor and outdoor areas with inviting places to play, learn and grow! At Alpha Kids Academy we provide long day care services for 0-6 year olds. Looks can be deceiving!!! Their outdoor area that cannot be seen from the street scape is a state of the art custom built kid’s haven incorporating both a built and natural environment.
They have been working closely with Choc & Moi in growing both their businesses. At all their Open Days and one coming up on Saturday 9th February they are offering free coffee and chocolates and treats for the kids at Choc & Moi for those who attend. There will be a fabulous lucky door prize, guessing competitions, face painting, balloons, kid’s activities and special treats fresh from their onsite kitchen and their beautiful Chef.
"We think working with our community is an integral part of our centre and philosophy. Our philosophy underpins everything we do as early childhood educators in relation to our children, the education program, our families, our staff and the community.”
“We provide a service that has a strong commitment to sustainable development incorporating many practices in our environment. “
They take the children to Choc & Moi every fortnight to collect the used coffee grounds from Helene that are then to be used in the Alpha kid’s gardens harvesting fresh herbs, fruits & vegetables.
It’s so hard to create a community spirit in an industrial area but, with these simple motions, and with the will of the local businesses, we can change our future.
Every little change can save our earth and the future of our little ones.
