A unique cinematic experience is set to unfold on the Northern Beaches, with Harbord Diggers hosting its highly anticipated Silent Cinema by the Sea in February following the success of last year’s outdoor event.

Each summer evening between Monday 10 February and Wednesday 12 February, Harbord Diggers’ popular outdoor Ocean Terrace will transform into a celebration of film, food and drinks in front of one of the country’s prettiest backdrops. Films to feature on the big outdoor screen include family favourite Toy Story 4, rom-com Crazy Rich Asians and the 2019 superhero blockbuster Spiderman Far From Home.

Unlike traditional moonlit cinemas, the highly-anticipated free cinema experience will see the movie’s audio be simulcast through the Listen Everywhere App that viewers can download and listen to on their own device.

Harbord Diggers Marketing Manager, Jake Avakian, is pleased to bring residents of the Northern Beaches an improved outdoor movie experience right on their doorstep.

“A big part of the movie-going experience is the atmosphere and we are delighted to be bringing back our very successful Cinema by the Sea in 2020,” he explained.

Following the Australia Day celebrations which saw many locals and visitors enjoy an action-packed weekend of live entertainment and frivolity, Harbord Diggers believes that Freshwater residents will enjoy the diverse movie line-up of films to celebrate the last few weeks of the summer season.

“For our second outdoor cinema event, we’ve chosen a few standout films that will have broad appeal within our community – including local families, couples, singles and students.

“Harbord Diggers is extremely proud of the events schedule we deliver through the year. Our Silent Cinema by the Sea is just another one of our free activities that we deliver to ensure our local community are kept entertained,” said Jake.

“It’s a great opportunity for friends to grab a seat, enjoy a bite to eat before the sun goes down and settle in for this free movie feature,” he concluded.

Families can treat the kids to a school-night outing on Monday 10 February where both the young and young at heart can enjoy Pixar’s utterly entertaining Toy Story 4.

Contemporary romantic comedy Crazy Rich Asians will then screen on Tuesday 11 February as a pre-Valentine’s day film and the Diggers Silent Cinema by the Sea will conclude on Wednesday 12 February with Spiderman Far From Home.

General entry to all movies will be free for members and guests. A limited number of VIP seats are available for $25 per person and includes premium seating area, bean bag and table service. Tickets are on sale now via the Harbord Diggers website.
