Rock Relief at Brookvale Oval Cancelled Due to Extreme Weather

We are saddened to announce that due to the extreme weather experienced across the weekend and with the forecast for more rain today and throughout the week, the Rock Relief charity concert scheduled for Saturday, 15 February at Brookvale Oval has been cancelled.

All ticketholders will be fully refunded, including booking fee.

Like much of Sydney, Brookvale has experienced over 330mm of rain in the last few days, with the deluge across the Northern Beaches causing flooding, land slips, road closures and evacuations.

It is not safe in these conditions to continue with the complex set up required at Brookvale Oval for this event.

This decision has not been made lightly but we have to prioritise the safety of staff, contractors and the community.

We know there will be thousands of disappointed ticket holders and we want to thank them, and all our generous sponsors and suppliers, for their support both for this event, and for those in bushfire and drought affected communities.

A special thank you too to all the generous artists who so willingly volunteered to take part in this charity event.

Council remains committed to the ongoing support for communities impacted by bushfire and drought. We will continue to work with our community partners like WIRES, Northern Beaches Rural Fire Service, Rotary and the Royal Far West who offer respite to drought affected families.

Why has the event been cancelled?

The Northern Beaches has received over 400mm of rain in parts over the weekend, with the deluge causing flooding, land slips, road closures and evacuations. The forecast is for more rain today and throughout the week.

Brookvale Oval has also been inundated over 330mm of rain which has created significant risks to the site. Due to the complex set up required for staging and sound, the set up cannot proceed safely in these conditions with vehicle movements restricted across the site.

This decision has not been made lightly but Council has to prioritise the safety of staff, contractors and the community.

We thank you for your support for the event.

Will I get a refund?

Yes, all tickets holders will be given a full refund, including booking fee, to the credit card you used to make the booking.

What about any additional money I donated at the time of the booking?

All monies paid for tickets and additional donations will be fully refunded.

Support bushfire and drought recovery.

You can still support the recovery and relief efforts by supporting the agency of your choice, such as:

WIRES Wildlife Relief fundproviding immediate assistance to cover the costs associated with the rescue and care of animals affected by fire, drought and extreme weather conditions.

Foodbank: delivering emergency food relief and water to victims of the Bushfire Crisis. For every $1 donated, they can provide $2 meals to affected communities thanks to our partnership with the food and grocery sector.

Red Cross Disaster Relief and Recovery Fund: providing on-the-ground disaster services, immediate grants and programs for mid to long term recovery.

Will you have another concert to replace it?

Council has been humbled by the generous response of the community, sponsors and suppliers, especially to the artists who so willingly gave their time to take part in this charity even.

We would welcome the opportunity to work with them again and look at holding a similar concert at another time to support bushfire and drought affected communities.
