Rockpool Dining Group Restaurants Get Freaky
Rockpool Dining Group’s late-night destinations are transforming into your worst nightmares, for an extended weekend of Halloween and Day of the Dead celebrations, from Thursday, 31 October to Saturday, 2 November.
Beerhaüs Barangaroo and York Street will turn into haunted hauses of hedonism for Halloween, on Thursday, 31 October, with creepy decorations scattered throughout the restaurants.
From 6pm, diners at Beerhaüs can take part in a traditional Halloween game, apple bobbing, or choose from tricks and treats in a random, lucky-dip door prize. Diners are also encouraged to dress in their craziest and spookiest costumes for the chance to win a 1-litre bottle of rum, courtesy of the party’s official sponsor, Kraken. There will also be a rum punch ($5) on offer throughout the evening, featuring a mix of spiced rum, Campari, agave, lime juice and pineapple juice.
Beerhaüs York Street will also have an acoustic band playing from 6pm to 11pm.
The Halloween revelry continues at Tex-Mex hangout El Camino Cantina in The Rocks, Entertainment Quarter, Manly and Westfield Miranda. Diners can treat themselves to the Halloween fiesta package ($79pp) featuring a selection of the restaurant’s favourite dishes, such as buffalo wings, fajitas, nachos and churros. The package includes two hours of margaritas, wine, beer and soft drinks. Guests who pre-book will receive a complimentary bag of Halloween lollies on arrival.
At 8pm, guests can take a whack at El Camino Cantina’s giant Halloween piñata, which will be filled with chocolates and Halloween lollies. The best dressed guy and girl on the evening will also each receive a $50 restaurant voucher.
There will also be a trick-or-treat lucky dip on arrival. Diners will need to randomly pick a shot glass from a tray, which will be filled with either tequila or soft drinks. Bookings can be made here.
El Camino Cantina’s Spook-tacular margarita of the month will be on offer for a special price ($7.50) all day, on Thursday, 31 October. The refreshing rita is a blend of peach, triple sec and tequila, and comes topped with creepy Halloween lollies.
El Camino Cantina is also celebrating Day of the Dead, Mexico’s annual holiday remembering the spirits of the deceased, on Saturday, 2 November. Guests can get a devilish make-over with free face-painting by Bewitched Faces, from 6pm to 9pm, while XO Patrón Cafeshots ($10) will help to liven up the party.
Diners who think they can handle their heat are encouraged to take part in a chilli-eating competition. The first contestant to eat five different chillies will be crowned champion and receive a $50 bar voucher.
The Argyle’s Day of the Dead celebrations kick off on Friday, 1 November, when its two floors, six bars and iconic cobblestone courtyard fill with giant sugar skulls, gory decorations, and roving performers and entertainers. Party-goers can also groove to tunes by DJ Keyes and Helena Ellis from 9pm. World-renowned DJ Tigerlily will keep the party going when she hits the decks from 10pm on Saturday, 2 November, officially bringing in Day of the Dead. Tickets can be purchased here.
