Creators of Australia's largest sober dance party, Xstatic Sunsets, will be hosting their next themed event on Saturday 30 November. Taking over the sunset rooftop of the iconic Home Night Club in Darling Harbour, Xstatic Sunsets, strives to make a statement about today's party culture and redefine what young Sydney-siders consider a fun night out. The theme is, Space Pirates.

Drugs and alcohol combined are responsible for nearly 1 in every 20 deaths, according to the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW)[1]. There were 6 deaths at festivals in New South Wales last year. The NSW enquiry revealed these young people died due to taking dangerous amounts of drugs and alcohol together.

A new more healthy party culture is emerging in Sydney as people are realising alcohol and drugs are not serving their mental health.  A growing number of sober dance parties have popped up in recent years to cater for those wanting to enjoy a party without "getting wasted".

Xstatic Sunsets is leading the way creating spectacular themed dress up parties which are so great you simply don’t need drugs or alcohol! The events are family-friendly and alcohol-free.

The feedback from their first two events says it all.  Check out this highlights video showing how great a sober dance party can be!

“This is hands down the best dance party I’ve ever been too! I’m still feeling great 48 hours later. Everyone needs to experience this event to know what pure joy and happiness is, without the need for booze or drugs.”

“Bigger, better & more brilliant than any other “high” I’ve experienced .... a rave that revives one’s soul!!!!”

Space Pirates will have 3 dance floors including a drum circle and a word class lineup of DJs including the Godfather of Australia electronic music, John Ferris and founder of Soul of Sydney, Phil Toke. Dancers and performers will add to the magic!

Founder Jasper Vallance, says “ we aim to create parties so epic you won't need drugs and alcohol to feel incredible!  Imagine an Ibiza dance party meets Burning Man and you start to get a vision for how spectacular and crazy these parties are”.

The natural high can be achieved through releasing the same happy chemicals people take drugs to enjoy.  It just requires a focus on the dance floor rather than the bar.  Dancing releases more endorphins than any type of exercise and it helps reduce levels of cortisol – a stress hormone.

The natural high causes a more gradual release of endorphins rather than being dumped from the brain like with drug or alcohol usage.  Watch this interview with neuroscientist Dr Kaushik Ram on the science behind the natural high.

The best part is the party starts early at 5.00pm to enjoy the sunset and finishes up in time for a good night's sleep! So you can get up the next and do what you love without feeling groggy or hungover.

Partying can be excellent for our mental health.  Xstatic Sunsets is dedicated to creating a space for healthy party habits. Our mission is to raise awareness about mental health and dependency issues, 5% of all profits goes to support mental health charities in Sydney.

Sat, 30th November – 5 to 11pm – Home The Venue – Sunset Roof Top – Darling Harbour
