Trading Hours
Sydney trading hours can vary depending on demand.
While there are no strict rules on when retail outlets can trade, traditionally most retail outlets are open:
Monday to Friday |
9am – 5:30pm |
Thursday (late night shopping) |
9am – 9pm |
Saturday |
9am – 5pm |
Sunday |
10am – 4pm |
Pricing & Advertised Prices
Where prices are displayed, the price is inclusive of sales tax (10% GST). Therefore the price on the shelf or price tag is what you will pay at the register.
When purchasing larger ticket items such as clothing, electrical goods etc. there is still room for negotiation, especially when purchasing multiple items within the one transaction, however, this practice is something most Australians are generally uncomfortable doing, and therefore generally pay retail price.
