David McKnight - Populism Now!

When:
Mon 30 Apr 2018
Cost:
Free, Everyone Welcome.
Details:
Populism can be a dirty word.

Certainly, Brexit and the election of Donald Trump have given populism a bad name, and it is often associated with rabble-rousing and exclusion.

But can it be harnessed as a positive force for change?

David McKnight joins us to make the case for progressive populism, arguing that it could address the genuine economic grievances of everyday people, without scapegoating immigrants or ethnic minorities. And that may be the best way of defeating the racist backlash of right-wing populism.
