The Tales of the East: Mother India and Colonial New South Wales exhibition is running at Old Government House focusing on the relationship between India and colonial Australia, which began in 1788 with the arrival of the First Fleet.

The exhibition features displays of Anglo-Indian men and women’s clothing, furniture and silverware and explores how Macquarie's time in India influenced his role as Governor of New South Wales.

Reflecting the exhibition, the museum shop at Old Government House is full of beautiful exotic gifts, cards and books that would make the perfect memento of your visit.
