The Willoughby Symphony’s FREEDOM concert will see Chief Conductor and Artistic Director, Dr Nicholas Milton AM lead the orchestra through the verdant landscapes of Scotland in Mendelssohn’s haunting tribute.

In a special addition to the concert, Willoughby Symphony Concertmaster, Maria Flindsay, will perform with one of the bows used by Russell Crowe during the filming of the 2003 film, Master and Commander. The bow, a Victor Fétique silver mounted bow circa 1920, was sold during Crowe’s recent Art of Divorce auction.

Followed with Beethoven’s superlative Violin Concerto, the Willoughby Symphony proudly welcomes sensational young Australian violinist, Courtenay Cleary, whose masterful rendition of this divine concerto will make this concert a triumphant and moving occasion for all who attend.

Courtenay exploded onto the classical music scene in 2017 with a spectacular performance for the British Royal Family at Westminster Abbey. She is currently on a full tuition scholarship at the Royal Academy of Music in London where she studies with Maureen Smith.
