Sat 09 Nov 2019
Cost:
Free event, bookings required
Details:
Learn how to make natural cloth dyes using traditional Korean methods and plants such as tea, saffron and gardenia. During the workshop you will learn how to use these plants most effectively and the process of dyeing and setting the cloth.

Taerim Claire Jeon is a Sydney based Jogakbo artist who strongly identifies with her Korean heritage. She re-interprets traditional methods and explores new forms of Jogakbo with her dyed and hand sewn works. A former children’s book and magazine illustrator, Claire discovered a passion for Jogakbo making over fifteen years ago and now enjoys teaching classes with the Korean Cultural Centre and from her own studio. Her works are an excellent example of traditional Korean Jogbakbo combining a refined aesthetic, skill and use of the various techniques with a contemporary flair.

See Claire's exhibition Intergradation, in Object Space, our 24-hour window gallery at ADC from 3 October – 13 November 2019.

This workshop and exhibition is presented in partnership with the Korean Cultural Centre, Australia.
