Interested in doing the most good you can do?

EAGxAustralia 2019 is the annual conference exploring effective altruism in Australia and Oceania. The conference aims to increase your knowledge, skills and networks so we can all achieve as much good as possible.

Effective altruism is about answering one simple question: how can we use our resources to help others the most? Rather than just follow intuitions, we believe that we should use evidence and careful analysis to find the most important causes and the best ways to work on them.

At this conference you will have the opportunity to:
– Meet like-minded, altruistic people
– Discover how you can do good better
– Familiarise yourself with core concepts within effective altruism
– Attend dozens of talks and workshops
– Discuss the latest ideas in the field of effective altruism
– Share new research and ideas
– Coordinate on global and local projects with experts in creating impact

The conference will kick-off with a dynamic panel of experts for a town-hall style night keynote, and presentations from several prominent public intellectuals and change makers.

Location and timing:
The conference will run from 9am-6pm on Saturday, September 28; and from 9am-5:30pm on Sunday, September 29 at the University of Sydney Business School.

Format:
The conference will involve a range of lectures, panel discussions and workshops delivered by expert and experienced speakers.

For example, these include, Najwa Al Abdallah, Chief Operating Officer of the Schistosomiasis Control Initiative (SCI) Foundation, Jade Leung: Head of Research & Partnerships at the Center for the Governance of Artificial Intelligence (GovAI) within the Future of Humanity Institute and Julia Wise: Community Liaison at the Centre for Effective Altruism; President of Giving What We Can. A full list of speakers is shown at the end of this page and on our speaker page.
