Water by Mark Langham

Every day until Sat 16 Nov 2019
Espionage is mightily confusing work.

This is the true story of Carl Hans Lody – the worst spy ever. With a kiss from the Kaiser, a stolen passport and a severe lack of training, Lody is shipped to Britain to start his ill-fated career as a German wartime spy. His capture and execution is carried out within months but despite all the drama … everyone rather liked him. His countrymen, his captors, even his executioners.

Water is an affectionate story, told with humour, of a man who is always in the wrong place at precisely the right time. The show is best described as a historical comedy, with four actors playing sixty characters between them to tell Lody’s life story.

Mark Langham is an award-winning playwright and was one of five finalists at Sydney Theatre Company’s Patrick White Playwrights Award earlier in 2019 for We Are The Himalayas, which played to full houses and received rave reviews during its premiere season at the New Blood Theatre.
