Details:
Our inaugural lunch in our Frontline Lunch Series will take place on Friday 23rd October at The Loft, Jones Bay Wharf, not far from Sydney’s CBD

This lunch is the first of what we hope to be a series of lunches around Australia (when we are all permitted to travel again) focused on those who live and work on the front-line of cancer research and in cancer prevention.

The Sydney event will be focused on the role of women in science and research. Women in STEM are severely underrepresented both locally and internationally, with females making up just 32% of the STEM workforce in Australia. Cure Cancer feels passionately that this is something which needs to be addressed, and we are taking steps to do so. We select our grant recipients on the basis of excellence, and this year alone, female researchers make up 65% of our Class of 2020.

Highlighting some of the challenges faced by women in research, guests will be joined by an inspirational panel of female speakers to discuss topics including cancer today, women in research, policy and advocacy, nutrition, wellbeing and cancer prevention.

The event will be compered by Channel 7’s Edwina Bartholomew, with special guests including:

Ticky Fullerton, Journalist and Television Presenter

Michele Chevalley Hedge, Nutritionist, Author and Media Personality

Associate Professor Phoebe Philips, NHMRC Fellow and leader of the Pancreatic Cancer, Translational Research Group at the University of New South Wales

All funds raised from the event will go towards funding another early-career cancer researcher, so that they can continue their life-saving research.
